We are honored to announce the release of JISIERA Vol. 8, No. 1 (April 2025). Praise be to Allah Almighty for granting us the opportunity to continue our mission in advancing scholarship at the intersection of Islamic studies and international relations. Our heartfelt gratitude and salutations also go to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), whose teachings guide and inspire our academic endeavors.
This latest edition proudly features a rich collection of research articles contributed by scholars from Indonesia, Pakistan, and China — reflecting the growing international reach and diversity of JISIERA.
We open with Eko Ernada’s exploration of religious moderation for global security, offering constructivist insights into how religion can serve as a catalyst for peacebuilding. From Pakistan, Mehreen Gul and Imran Khan analyze the Russian-Ukrainian war through the lens of ethnic conflict theories, providing a deeper understanding of identity-based dynamics in international conflicts.
Addressing the global humanitarian landscape, Hasbi Aswar, Imam Hudaifi, Ade Irman Heryana, and Imam Khairul Muslim Hawari investigate the international response to the Gaza crisis since October 2023, highlighting shifts from grassroots protests to formal advocacy.
Syahrir Akbar’s article examines the Islamic Development Bank’s (IsDB) contributions to socio-economic development within OIC countries, demonstrating the transformative role of Islamic financial institutions.
In the realm of health diplomacy, Ade Irman Heryana and Davina Shofa Ari Agustina present a case study on Iran’s collaboration with Indonesia in advancing medical technology through initiatives such as telerobotic surgery and telemedicine between 2021 and 2023.
Finally, Syarifah Huswatun Miswar offers a comparative study on realism in international relations from Western and Islamic (Qur'anic) perspectives, enriching the dialogue between classical IR theories and Islamic political thought.
