About the Journal
The Journal of Islamic Studies and International Relations, known as Jisiera, is an annual academic journal published by the Indonesian Islamic Studies and International Relations Association (Insiera). Publication of this journal aimed as an intellectual communication bridge that strengthens Insiera's network and disseminates thoughts or research works that contributed positively towards the development of science and Ummah (global Islamic community).
Jisiera promotes academic debates by providing scientific articles with all available academic approaches (intradisciplinary, crossdisciplinary, multidisciplinary, interdisciplinary, and transdisciplinary) focusing on issues related to Islam, the Muslim World, and International Relations. Particular attention is given to articles discussing Islamic Studies approaches in International Relations and the application of Islamic perspective in International Relations. Although, Jisiera is not constrained to the discussion merely on those particular themes.
All articles published in Jisiera have been indexed by OpenAIRE and accordingly, they have a unique DOI number.
Current Issue
Alhamdulillah, we are pleased to announce the publication of JISIERA Vol. 7, No. 2 (October 2024). Praise be to Allah for granting us the opportunity to share this edition, which continues our mission to explore the intricate relationships between Islamic studies and international relations. We also extend our gratitude and praise to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), whose teachings guide us in our scholarly pursuits.
This edition features a diverse array of research, reflecting the complexity of global issues through various lenses. The opening article by Gamal Abdul Nasir Makatita and Mutia Hariati Hussin delves into the role of social media as a propaganda tool during the ongoing conflict between Russia and Ukraine, highlighting the profound impact of digital communication on public perception and international discourse. Khairul Munzilin and M. Anugrah Putra Mahardhika examine the blockade of Israeli merchant ships by Yemeni Houthi forces, shedding light on its implications for both regional and global stability, underscoring the intricate ties between localized conflicts and broader geopolitical ramifications.
Meanwhile, Ibaadurrahman Azzahidi presents a unique study on the paradiplomatic collaboration between the Pattani government and Ponorogo in Thailand, focusing on the development of Islamic education and illustrating how local governments can engage in meaningful international cooperation. Fikri Arfiansyah Husnain offers a timely examination of the Singapore-Laos education cooperation through the Singapore Cooperation Programme (SCP), assessing its impact on human capital development in Laos and highlighting the importance of educational partnerships in fostering growth. Daffa’ Dhiya’ Ulhaq and Novi Rizka Amalia investigate the effects of Indian food inflation on food security in Bangladesh, addressing a pressing issue that resonates with broader themes of economic stability and human welfare.
Finally, Gustri Eni Putri and Primadiani Difida Widyaputri explore the Indian government’s efforts to empower women through the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) program, illustrating how policy initiatives can foster gender equality and social progress. Indeed, we invite our readers to engage with the diverse perspectives presented. Each contribution enriches our understanding of the complex challenges and opportunities within Islamic studies and international relations today. We hope this edition inspires further research, dialogue, and action in addressing the pressing issues of our time.
