BBBP POLICY AS A HOLISTIC DEVELOPMENT OF THE NARENDRA MODI GOVERNMENT IN OPTIMISING WOMEN'S EMPOWERMENT IN INDIA 2015 - 2017

Pemberdayaan perempuan merupakan sebuah upaya memberikan kekuatan,
pilihan, dan kebebasan bagi perempuan dalam mengoptimalkan potensi yang
dimilikinya. Di level nasional, dalam memberdayakan perempuan diperlukan
adanya partisipasi kolektif antara negara sebagai entitas politik tertinggi dan
masyarakat sebagai pelaksana pemberdayaan perempuan. India sebagai negara
berkembang di Asia Selatan menjadi negara yang sedang mengupayakan
optimalisasi pemberdayaan perempuan melalui kebijakan pembangunan holistik
multi sektor yang mampu memberikan dampak signifikan pada pembangunan
negara. Di bawah kepemimpinan Narendra Modi pada periode pertamanya,
muncul kebijakan yang disebut dengan Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP)
sebagai jembatan dalam mengaktualisasikan pemberdayaan perempuan di India.
Upaya yang termaktub dalam kebijakan ini adalah pembangunan ekonomi
melalui pemberdayaan kemampuan demi meningkatkan pertumbuhan ekonomi
(economically productive), memberikan pengarahan pada partisipasi perempuan
di ranah publik, jaminan terhadap keterwakilan perempuan di dunia politik,
serta budaya pengarusutamaan perempuan dalam sektor-sektor lainnya. Melalui
upaya yang dilakukan Narendra Modi, perempuan diberikan kekuatan dan
jaminan dari negara untuk memenuhi kebutuhannya secara pribadi (selfsufficiency).
